LOOK UP Louis XIV. Use the library databases and also think about checking out modern periodicals and newspapers – ole Louis gets referenced quite a bit. WRITE a post analyzing what you find using SPECS.
Louis XIV was the leader of France for more than 70 years in the 17th and 18th century. He supported a system of government called absolutism. This is a system that is very tough to work with because it says that his opinions are simply right and that any other religious thoughts are not right. Living under this system is very difficult, particularly for non-Christians because there is already a cultural bias with actions that you do.
One major thing that Louis XIV accomplished was building The Palace of Versailles. This was a major accomplishment because it asserted Louis's dominance as a leader. His main way of leading was through domination, force, and intimidation, and this is just how he was so successful in his kingship of France. Because of everything the way that he ruled, he became the most dominant French leader of all time.
Great points Kevin they really bring out what King Louie stands for, but on the other hand I find that your organization caused a lot of dangling comments. You left a few unsupported comments such as how his rules affected the people. For example you wrote about Non-Christians being affected by absolutism, but you never tie it back to the effects of it. Also, you could have transitioned from one point to another more efficiently.
ReplyDeleteI really liked your post because you really emphasized the kind of ruler that Louis XIV was, and I completely agree. When reading your post though, it felt like there wasn't much covering certain SPECS categories. Although you had a really strong argument, I felt like it would have been stronger if you had explained other aspects of Louis XIV's rule.
ReplyDeleteI like how you observe Louis XIV's methods through the lenses of the common people. You acknowledge that life is difficult under an absolute monarchy, which strengthens your blog post especially under the social category. Versailles is also a significant part of Louis XIV's reign. I thought you could have elaborated more on how his methods attribute to his charisma, because you implied that his most dominant ruling forces were his "domination, force, and intimidation." These traits are all part of charisma, so maybe you could have more clearly connected them with your evidence and facts. Otherwise, very clearly written and well done.
