Comparing Cambodia's struggle with drugs with 19th century china's

Cambodia and China have both had (and continue to have) major problems with drug trafficking. China experienced its economy crumble after it became addicted to opium in the 19th century. Today, Cambodia is seeing a similar trend with its countries meth trade. China's encounter with drug trade was different and more impact because prior to the introduction of opium into it's markets, it possessed a very powerful economy and healthy trade relations;then opium tore it all down.Cambodia had no where near as succesful an economy but it has experienced the same struggles as China. Cambodia's population is becoming addicted to meth at a scary rate. The main similarity between China and Cambodia's struggles is that in both cases, the drug afflictions have resulted in the adoption of the culture of other nation's.

  1. This post brought up a new idea that I haven't seen in other posts, which is the fact that China's economy had been at such a strong point before the drug problem. Because of this, the economy fell a longer distance. I had not really considered this prior to reading this blog post.

  2. I agree with Kevin you really brought up new ideas that I had not heard of like China's economy was strong before the drugs, and also how they both adopted new cultures from other nations. These are new ideas to me that are really interesting.
