King Louis XIV

Louis XIV was the son of Louis XIII and the Spanish Queen Anee of Austria. He was known as The Sun KingTook the thrown and became the King of France in 1643. He ruled until 1715. In a series of wars between 1667 to 1697, he extended the eastern borders of France and in the War of the Spanish Succession, 1701-1714, he engaged in a hostile European coalition in order to secure the Spanish thrown for his grandson. He was demonstrating the political boundaries of France and his supreme power. He tried to govern his people under the capital, Versailles, so in a way they didn't have to govern so many different locations and keep control of all these posts. He supported the system of government called Absolutism. This system meant that he was always right and basically stated that what he wanted/said had to be accepted. Although Louis XIV ruled for a long time and had plenty of control, when he died France got in great debt. He was remembered for his leadership, forcefulness, domination, and war skills. As a result, King Louis XIV was the greatest King France has ever had.

  1. I'll agree with you in King Louis XIV being the greatest French king because I don't really know any other kings. A little bit more organization would help the reader distinguish between your thoughts more clearly. Also, you contradict yourself when you say how Louis got France into a lot of debt after his death and then praise his leadership and war skills in the next sentence.

  2. I too agree that he was one of the best kings of France, except I do like Hugh Capet. When he came to power, France was not in the best financial state, so they were already somewhat in debt. I agree with James about the organization. Maybe instead of stating fact after fact, you could group your ideas into paragraphs. Also, I believe his successor was his great-grandson. What about the scientific element of his rule? He allowed for the creation of the Academy of Sciences.

  3. I agree with everything that you said. But the only thing is that you could have gone into more detail of what he did to get France into debt and use more advance vocabulary. Maybe just organize your thoughts clearer.

  4. Although you made some great points in your blog I'd have to say that there were a lot of problems for me to read it cause of the organization. I'm with James when I say I don't know any kings so I agree with you when you say he was a great king.

  5. I think that you made some very valid points in your post. Like everyone else who commented, I suggest you try to improve the organization because it was a little hard for me to understand completely. But otherwise, it is pretty well written. About Louis XIV being the best king, he did get France into a huge debt so I'm not so sure I'd say he was the best. I agree with Frannie. Hugh Capet was a pretty awesome king.

  6. Adding on to what Roshan said with a little more organization and structure to your paragraph it will make it easier for everyone to understand just what exactly you are talking about and how you are conveying it. Also there are few grammar mistakes and word misplacement but overall you did a pretty good job on this.
