Cabaret
In the movie, Berlin seemed like a disheartened and poor city, all effects of the economic problems at the time. Not many people in Berlin had much money but a lot of people went to the Cabaret, where the performers always seemed to sing and dance about money. The Cabaret is like a distorted mirror to the outside world where the townspeople come to forget about their problem. Nazis were not welcome at the Cabaret but yet were very strong and gaining in followers as was seen during the song. Many young people started to follow the Nazis. The young Nazi was singing a song that kept repeating, "Tomorrow belongs to me," almost like a foreshadowing as the Nazis would become even more powerful in ensuing years. In the Cabaret, when the Nazi beats up the owner of the cabaret for kicking him out, they were performing something similar in the Cabaret. The Cabaret almost seems like it is a fantasy world that is mocking the real world.
