Behind the Baghdad Bombings

On August 19, 2009, a suicide truck bomber bombed the foreign ministry building in Iraq. The initial question that came to mind when I read about the bombing was why would someone do such a thing? I realized in order to fully understand the bomber’s true intentions, I would need figure out which radical group the bomber belonged to? Once I find out which radical group the bomber was affiliated with, I will have a better understanding of his motives for his suicide truck bombing. It is also crucial to find out what the foreign ministry was doing at the time. From finding the foreign ministries actions, concluding why the bomber bombed the building will be easier to comprehend.

  1. THe logic is good, but I don't think finding out the foreign ministry's immediate past actions will help much. I think the bombings were directed at the foreign ministry because it is a large and important government building. The extremists just want to undermine the authorities.
