Factors that influence a state

Geography and the social pattern of people influence a state and determine its success. Geography is crucial to a state. It determines how close the state is to resources, thus affecting the state's economy, climate, living conditions, agriculture, and trading procedures. The state must adapt to its geography in order to stay alive and prosper. Also, the social pattern of people greatly affects how the state operates. If its population have a common origin, language, ethnicity, and religion, it will be easier for society to work together. With differences in these social bases, conflict could arise within the state and communication would more difficult.
